Historique :	Maquette originale primée du concours pour le monument à la Défense des Aydes à Orléans, érigé au faubourg des Aydes à Orléans (Loiret). Il s'agit de la maquette d'un monument aux morts de 1870 réalisé par Desvergnes après avoir remporté un concours lancé en 1897. Il commémore un fait d'armes qui s'est déroulé dans le faubourg des Aydes. Cinq mille soldats français résistent une demi-journée face à quarante mille Prussiens. Leur chef, le commandant Arago, est tué. Le monument est inauguré en 1899.
